Our 2010 vegtable garden photo's and comments.

We start the garden each year by adding compost  and tilling. our Honda FG110, tiller makes short work tilling the fourteen raised bed planters. The four stroke enigne is powerful, clean and runs very smooth.

The raised beds before spring tilling.

All the raised beds tilled and ready for planting at the end of May.

Very good soil is the key to  great vegtables, we use a mix of well aged compost and good loam soil. This is our pea and salad greens patch, we pick the peas from the back side through the wire mesh and the salad greens in the front. we found this works well for us.

Trina dividing the strawberries into rows, the string helps keep her on track. This was just two plants two years ago. the planter is 5 x 12 feet.

The garlic is doing well after a long cold winter nap, I planted this last fall.

The garlic is growing well and very big. May 29,2010

After three months of hard work the upper garden and new lawn areas are all done.

Trina and I took classes to become Penn state master gardeners this winter, here's some of our training at work. in past years our seed started plant did not do very well, this year we got it right.

We've been working the upper garden and lawn areas for thirteen years, on May 29,2010 we finished it. we have picked tons of rock to make way for the grass lanws, in the next photo you'll see the wall I started in the spring of 1997, it too is now done.

Twelve feet high and two hunderd feet long here's thirteen years of pure work.

The electric fence keeps the deer out of the garden, and we have a few kinds of snakes that live in the great rock wall too.
