I have to comment on this original work of art from Scicchitano's in Berwick pa.
We stopped at Scicchitano's and found they were closed for vacation, ( we can't blame them) but there is only one place to get a Doagie sandwich. Doagies, (Dough + Hoagie) are assembled from two pieces of pizza dough. Meat, cheese, mayo, oil, lettuce, and tomatos are layered on top of one of the pieces of crust and the second piece forms a top bun. The Doagie is cut into pieces and sold by the slice or you can also order a whole Doagie for $9.00 the last I knew.
On the drive back to our home I was scheming on how to make my own Doagie for supper, I got out the dough mixer,some lunch meat and fresh veggies from the garden...... in a few long hours we had success, allot of work but well worth it.
